Weiss Vari-angle Digital Thermometer

Weiss Instruments has over 100 years experience in manufacturing a complete line of quality thermometers and pressure gauges.  One of their products is great for new installations or replacement of industrial glass and bimetal thermometers.  It is a vari-angle digital thermometer that is mercury free and light powered.  Yes, light powered!  It works for chilled, condenser and hot water applications, has a fast response time and is F/C switchable.  Its accuracy is within 1% and ranges from -50 to 300 degrees F.

Weiss also offers the first “self-indicating” temperature transmitter that is light powered. Combining their mercury-free solar thermometer with a loop-powered 4 to 20mA transmitter results in a single unit that allows local reading and remote transmitting for HVAC systems, building automation or anywhere local and remote readings are required. Dual sensors offer independent operation for reliability and convenience. It requires one thermowell which saves time and money without sacrificing performance.

Mounting a Belimo TF Series Actuator to a Belimo Ball Valve

While I was in the Orlando office the other day Pat Marley took a call from a client asking how to mount his Belimo TF series actuator to his Belimo ball valve using the WTF mounting adaptor kit. Sadly the Belimo WTF mounting adaptor kit comes with no instructions on how to undertake this proceedure. Pat, being Pat using the speaker phone walked the client through the mounting proceedures and was kind enough to walk through the installation again for my camera also so we could present this article to you… our clients.

I hope this series of photographs takes the mystery out of installing this Belimo actuator to the Belimo ball valve. At Stromquist and Company we will continue to take the “MYSTERY” out of controls for you. Testo Handheld Refrigerant Leak Detector

It’s that time of year again when the hum of air conditioning units  fills the hot air. It’s also the time that many people realize they need a service call because the a/c just isn’t cooling.  One of the first things checked is the refrigerant level to see if there is a leak.   Every technician needs a refrigerant leak detector, and at Stromquist we recommend Testo’s 316 Refrigerant Leak Detector.

Testo’s highly accurate and reliable refrigerant leak detector is the only modular leak detector for all standard refrigerants and ammonia (it easily converts to ammonia detection by swapping out the sensor).  The sensor status is monitored continuously and alerts the user to malfunctions or contamination.  Technicians can save time that is usually wasted taking sample leak tests. If the sensor is dirty, it can be electronically cleaned and then is immediately ready for use. When a leak is detected, the display changes from green to red and provides an audible alarm. Testo also provides and earplug to hear the alarm in loud surroundings.

The unit has an adjustable sensitivity to help pinpoint leaks and has a 14.5″ flexible gooseneck to help with optimum positioning of the sensor.  The sensitivity is calibrated to R134a, R22, R12 R404a and Hydrogen.  It detects CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs (including 410a) and blended refrigerants, and the response time is less than one second. The solid-state sensor technology is backed by a 2-year warranty.
